01Phase ⁄ Briefing

— Jan 9, 2023 · Kick-off session

Listen before you draw.

Two days of structured conversations with Bold Agency's founding partners. No formal brief to start — just open dialogue around their origin story, what they're proud of, where they feel invisible, and the kind of work they're trying to attract over the next three years.

The real tension surfaces quickly: the existing identity was built for an early-stage hustle aesthetic. It no longer matched the caliber of work the team was producing. Clients were consistently underestimating their seniority before the first call even started.

02Phase ⁄ Discovery

— Jan 16, 2023 · Market research

Audit, benchmarks, field research.

We mapped 24 creative agencies operating in the same tier and geography. Photographed six direct competitors' brand touchpoints across digital, print, and social. Interviewed eight prospective clients to understand how they evaluate agency credibility before the first contact.

The finding was consistent: agencies that signal confidence through restraint — tight typography, deliberate negative space, a clear point of view — win the first impression without saying a word.

"I assumed they were a junior studio. Their portfolio proved otherwise — but I nearly didn't look." — Prospect 04 ⁄ Client interview 02
03Phase ⁄ Strategy

— Jan 30, 2023 · Positioning workshop

One position, six words.

Two workshop days with the founding team. We narrowed the brand promise to six words, defined three visual archetypes, and selected 'earned authority' as the primary narrative axis. Strategy isn't a document to archive — it becomes the filter through which every design decision gets evaluated.

Output: 18-page brand platform, single-page A2 brand manifesto, decision framework for future content production. The client signs off. Design can begin.

04Phase ⁄ Concept

— Feb 13, 2023 · Creative direction

Three directions, one winner.

We developed three distinct visual directions, each grounded in the brand platform but expressing a different tonal register — from sharp editorial authority to quiet geometric precision to warm human confidence.

The winning direction leaned into contrast: bold proportional typography paired with deliberate silence. The logo mark — a geometric letterform derived from a precise optical correction — reads as crafted, not generated.

— Mar 6, 2023 · System build

Every detail earns its place.

Six weeks of focused production. Final logo system across all applications, a type hierarchy built on two typefaces, a four-tone color palette anchored by a near-black and a warm off-white.

06Phase ⁄ Delivery

— Mar 27, 2023 · Handover

Nothing stays in a drawer.

Final handover in a two-hour working session with the full Bold Agency team. We walked through every asset, explained the reasoning behind every decision, and made sure the guidelines were written to be used — not admired.

Guidelines delivered in three formats: interactive PDF, Figma source file with all components, and a printed 60-page manual for studio reference.
